Sac State Morning Wake-Up Call: Northern Colorado GameDay Edition

It’s time to wake up to the fact that this is one of those must-win games for the Hornets today at Northern Colorado. Win and they keep their hopes alive. Lose and it would be tough for the NCAA selection committee to let them in – even with a  7-4 record – with a loss like this on their resume.

Today’s game is going to be rainy and muddy with 70 percent chance of precipitation and temperatures below 50 degrees. That means it’s going to be up to tailback Brian Hilliard to lead the Hornets. Today’s video shows how he did it against Montana a two weeks ago:

What they’re saying about today’s game:

* SacStateSports.com had its GameDay Preview Capsule this morning.

* The Greeley Tribune previewed today’s game, but it’s a subscription-required story. Continue Reading →

Audio: Oregonian Columnist Canzano Talks About Hornets; Also Check Out Canzano’s Column On Masaniai

This is worth listening to: Oregonian sports columnist John Canzano, who is one of the best columnist in the country, talked about the Hornets on Wednesday with Corvallis Gazette-Times’ Oregon State beat writer Cliff Kirkpatrick on the “Bald-Faced Truth Show.”

Click here for link. Good stuff from Canzano.

Before I forget, Canzano also has a great column on Oregon State where he chastises Coach Mike Riley for lifting Castro Masaniai’s suspension this week. It is the best read out of Oregon this week, hands down.
